The University of California-Los Angeles is one of the few American universities to provide detailed statistics on the SAT scores of both applicants and accepted students. These numbers allow prospective UCLA students to compare the SAT performance of the entire applicant pool with the much smaller group of students who are offered admission. According to UCLA data, middle-50% SAT scores for all applicants are approximately 585-715 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW), 580-755 math, and 1180-1440 composite. Students accepted to UCLA generally score much higher at 680-765 EBRW, 680-785 math, and 1375-1530 composite. The difference is about 100 points per section and 200 points composite at the 25th percentile (SAT scores are reported in 10-point increments). The overall acceptance rate to UCLA is approximately 19%, but applicants with SAT scores of 1460 or higher are admitted at a rate of more than 51%. The acceptance rate for lower-scoring students is 16% with SAT scores of 1280–1450, 8% for scores of 1090-1440, 4% for scores of 890–1080, and less than 1% for scores below 890.
