Most prospective graduate business students are aware that the GMAT is an important exam, but they may not realize how much the GMAT affects their applications. To some degree, it is possible to quantify the impact of the GMAT. The business school rankings published by U.S. News & World Report are widely respected in the United States and around the world. The U.S. News rankings methodology devotes 16.25% of a program's ranking score to the mean GMAT or GRE performance of its accepted students (average undergraduate grades contribute only 7.5%). Many of the elite schools are therefore reluctant to admit lower scoring applicants, which could cause their place in the rankings to drop. According to a recently published survey of business school admissions consultants, GMAT scores are believed to be more than twice as important to admissions decisions as undergraduate grades and more significant than any other application component. A student neglects the GMAT at his or her peril.

I attended a weekend course run by Manhattan Review two and a half weeks before my GMAT. The teacher on the course was fantastic and managed to focus on the needs of individuals despite the class setting. I also thought the materials were absolutely first rate. I managed to score 760, exceeding my GMAT goal by 60 points. I was absolutely ecstatic!
